Xbox Scorpio Gets an Additional Gigabyte of RAM Unlocked for Devs

Project Scorpio

It’s been revealed today via Mike Ybarra, that Xbox Scorpio now has an additional gigabyte of RAM unlocked for developers to utilise.

Ybarra stated: “We’ll keep tuning Scorpio to empower creators to share the best versions of their games. Unlocked extra GB of RAM for them, now 9GB of GDDR5”

Scorpio features 12GB of memory, 8GB of which is for the developers to play with, with 4GB reserved for the system. The talented tech minded engineers must have worked out how to sufficiently manage the system with just 3GB, meaning this is bound to please devs that now have that extra 1GB to toy with.

Ybarra further stated that: “Games that don’t use the full 9GB, the rest of the RAM will be used as a cache (making things load way faster, etc.). All games = better”

One thing is for certain, this is going to be a pretty exciting reveal. There’s not long at all to wait, stay tuned and we’ll keep you in the loop.
