The Spectrum Retreat Comes to Console and PC This Year
BAFTA Young Game Designer winner, Dan Smith, and publisher, Ripstone Games, announce that The Spectrum Retreat, the upcoming first-person narrative puzzler, is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this year.
Having won the BAFTA Young Game Designers Award (YGD) 2016 for the prototype when he was only 18 years old, Dan Smith has subsequently developed the game with the support of Ripstone, building an intriguing narrative around the intuitive first-person puzzle action. Players must explore the pristine and uncanny hotel, The Penrose, solving its ingenious colour-coded puzzles and discovering the reasons behind their seemingly never-ending stay.
The Spectrum Retreat takes place in the near future at The Penrose hotel, a peaceful yet unsettling refuge from the outside world. As a valued guest, your existence is embedded into the corridors and guest rooms of The Penrose. Through exploration of the striking art-deco hotel you will begin to uncover the mysteries of both The Penrose and the uncertainties surrounding your current stay.
Your desire to unearth the truth is obstructed by an array of colour coded first-person puzzles, mind-bending physics challenges and the growing fear of exposing your true intentions. Check out the new trailer at the head of this post.

New Patch Released for Monster Hunter: World
Patch update 188.8.131.52 for Xbox One is now live (2.01 – PS4) in Monster Hunter: World. The update is only a small one, however, it does fix a few issues that have been bugging players for a small while now. Capcom’s Yuri Araujo states that:
In Update Ver. 2.00 (PS4), 184.108.40.206 (Xbox One), a balance update was done to the bow’s Dragon Piercer attack to fix a bug where you could shoot past the attack’s angle limitations. However due to this update, when the target is lined up with the reticle at a very fast speed and the Dragon Piercer fires, it was discovered that the player may not be able to face in the direction of the reticle. This has been fixed so that even if the player is aiming at a target quickly in a direction they are not facing, the reticle will still be able to aim in that direction. (Please note that during Dragon Piercer, if the reticle is aimed at an area outside of the allowed range, the attack will fire in the direction the player is facing)
The update also addresses loadout issues during Arena Quests. You can check out the patch notes right here to see what’s what.

Harec and his Raiders must struggle to convince Ayana to betray the Hades Division and join the Raiders if they want to have a chance to prevent General Krausher from deploying a doomsday weapon that will tip the balance of power on the Broken Planet in his favor.

Sea of Thieves’ New Update Fixes Ship Spawning Distance and More
Rare took Sea of Thieves down for some maintenance today to implement some much needed fixes. One of the most notable problems that has since been resolved is that of ship spawning distance. Ships will now respawn outside of visible view of the ship that sank them, which helps to dial down on reported grieving behavior.
It’s now no longer possible to accidentally teleport to your ship from the mermaid whilst holding treasure items, preventing players from inadvertently teleporting to their ships and leaving their loot behind. The voyage image on the captain’s table now displays the rank (promotion) banner in the top right corner, to keep in line with other areas of the game UI. Speaking of bounties, bounty Captains will no longer spawn multiple times.
On top of this, some performance improvements have been made, with more improvements incoming for all platforms. Rare acknowledge that there are other ongoing issues persisting, but will fix these at a later date based on priority. You can check out the patch notes and known issues, right here.
