Spyro Reignited Trilogy Announced for Xbox One and PS4

Following heaps of speculation and rumors, Activision has finally lifted the lid on the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which is confirmed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with no timed exclusivity on the latter.

Remade from the ground up by lead developer Toys for Bob, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy features the fun and nostalgic gameplay that fans remember with more than 100 levels, enhanced reward sequences, Spyro’s gang of zany dragons and other goofballs (including Sparx the Dragonfly, Hunter, Sheila, Agent 9 and Sgt. Byrd) and more.

The trilogy (Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon) also includes improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics for added flavour in this one-of-a-kind adventure. Toby Schadt, Design Director at Toys for Bob, states:

While staying true to the spirit of the original games, we are simultaneously passionate about maximizing the potential that modern consoles like the Xbox One can provide. The designs of the worlds and characters have been elevated with loving detail to give them a whole new life, and updates to many of the core gameplay systems (like analog stick camera control, an auto-save system, more fast-travel options, etc.), will provide the quality-of-life improvements that you expect in 2018. Nostalgic fans will find the same personality and humor of the originals in every square inch of the remaster, but will be amazed to see, hear, and feel the games in this newly reignited collection.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy will launch simultaneously for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 21st of this year. Check out the new trailer below.

State of Decay 2 Gets a New Gameplay Trailer

Undead Labs has today released a new trailer for the anticipated State of Decay 2, showcasing several elements of the game. The footage, seen below, highlights driving, exploration and combat, which looks just as brutal as ever. We also catch a sneak peel at the management of the refuge homestead, which seems interesting enough.

State of Decay 2 is said to be the ultimate zombie survival game in an open world where you and up to three friends build a community of survivors. It’s up to you to establish a base, develop your characters’ abilities, and manage resources to survive as a group in a world where choices matter and every decision has lasting consequences. State of Decay 2 is set to release on PC and Xbox One on May 22nd, 2018.

Impact Winter Launches on Console

Bandai has digitally released Impact Winter, developed by Mojo Bones Ltd., on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An asteroid has crashed into the Earth, and the world we once knew has turned into a wasteland of perpetual winter. Jacob Soloman, a lone survivor stumbles into a snow-buried church sheltering four other survivors and their robot, Ako-Light. A transmission has been received with the hope of help arriving in 30 days. Will they last the month?

Play as Jacob Soloman and lead a team of four other survivors as they try to stay alive in a frozen wasteland until help arrives in 30 days. Each member of the group brings their own expertise as they hunt and scavenge to survive the unrelenting conditions and dipping morale until help arrives.

Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment Allegedly Working on a Battle Royale Game

Word on the street suggests that Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment, the developer of The Division, is currently working on a Battle Royale game. Massive are confirmed to be working on The Division 2, as well as a movie tie-in game for Avatar 2, but they allegedly still have time to craft this Battle Royale offering.

If this is true, we can safely assume that the game will utilize the Snowdrop engine, and will most likely play quite similar to The Division, which isn’t a bad thing by any means.

Rumor has it that Ubisoft commissioned Massive to create this project back in January of this year, so it may be some time before we see anything concrete. Though, with that being said, Epic managed to build Fortnite’s Battle Royale in just two months, so if Ubisoft are using The Divisions’ assets, we may well see or hear something at E3 2018. Only time will tell…

Fear the Reaper and Dive into a Strange New World in Vampyr’s Story Trailer

Vampyr, the upcoming action-RPG from DONTNOD Entertainment, will release June 5 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game’s wider narrative arcs are unveiled today in a captivating Story Trailer, brought together with an eerie cover of (Don’t Fear) the Reaper. Returning from the frontlines to a London devastated by war and disease, Dr. Jonathan Reid awakens to a once-hidden world of ungodly creatures, secret societies and vampire hunts.

In Vampyr, you play as Jonathan Reid, a doctor in 1918 London newly-turned into a vampire following his return from the Great War. His convictions blown away, Reid discovers the existence of a dark new world were supernatural creatures and secret societies live together in the shadows… and he is now part of this world.

As a newborn vampire shattered by an irrepressible thirst of blood and thrust into a strange new world, Reid attempts to interpret the supernatural in the best way he knows how: rational thinking. However, between ancient societies, mysterious murders and an imminent large-scale vampire hunt, his scientific assurances are challenged like never before. Driven by a personal desire to learn who caused his transformation and why, Jonathan Reid continues working to find a cure to the devastating disease that decimates its citizens.

But doing so, he must confront his nature as a blood-drinker and the terrible temptation to feed on those he swore to protect…

Deck13 Rebrands Publishing Division, Announces Console Releases at PAX East

Deck13 announce that it is rebranding its publishing division, from now on calling it Deck13 Spotlight to better reflect its focus. Further, the company is announcing two new console releases, playable at this week’s PAX East in Boston.

“Thousands of games are released every month. Every. Single. Month”, says Jan Klose, co-founder of Deck13. “How can a small startup studio win the attention war? Only by partnering up with someone like us, a team that puts a spotlight on their work.”

At PAX East, the spotlight is on two new projects: CrossCode, a game reminiscent of Secret of Mana, is coming to consoles later this year! The game will leave Early Access this summer after having sold more than 100.000 units. The PS4 version is playable at PAX for the very first time.

Fans of real-life tabletop board games will be happy to hear that the cooldown-based Viking strategy game Wartile will be released for consoles this summer. Players can already try out the controller gameplay at PAX. Standby for more, as and when we have it.

Raging Justice Gets a Release Date

Today, Team17 and MakinGames announce that Raging Justice will drop kick its way onto Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac on May 8th 2018. Also announced is a third playable character: Ashley King, a street-smart inner-city kid with a backpack full of whoop ass.

“We realised that Raging Justice needed a third playable character and we wanted someone who would fit the style of the game yet give a very different feel when playing.” Said Nic Makin, lead programmer of MakinGames. Jay Howse, lead artist, added “We chose a teenager because I wanted something different to the usual ‘veteran cop/ex-military’ type. I wanted more of a fish out of water type character, someone who might have ended up in the situation by accident but still manages to hold their own and kick some serious arse!”

The streets of Big Smoke City aren’t safe for anyone, let alone a kid and so it’s a good job that Ashley King isn’t just any kid. Raised under the constant fear of gang violence, Ash had to grow up and grow up fast. Drawing influence from action movie heroes, Ash has developed a fast and lethal fighting style that takes enemies by surprise.

Divinity Original Sin 2 Comes to Console in August

Bandai today announce that Divinity Original Sin 2, the award-winning BAFTA nominated role playing game from Larian Studios, is coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in August 2018. Divinity Original Sin 2 gives players the freedom of a sandbox RPG encouraging improvisation and experimentation with rules made to be bent rather than followed. The game takes place in the world of Rivellon where players can go anywhere, talk to anyone (living, dead, or non-human) and fully interact with the game world like no other RPG. The game features six unique origin characters with full-fledged backstories, personalities and questlines.

Console players diving into the world of Divinity Original Sin 2 for the first time will enjoy a user interface tailored for console play in both four-player online co-op and two-player split-screen co-op modes. Onrush’s New Trailer Showcases ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ Gameplay

Codemasters and Koch Media have today released a new gameplay trailer for ONRUSH, the action-packed, arcade racer that will smash its way onto the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 5th June 2018. The new trailer, available to view below, showcases the game’s unrelenting, hair-raising action and heart in the mouth close calls that come thick and fast in every round.

In ONRUSH players race hard and wreck even harder. However, unlike other arcade racers, ONRUSH will throw you right back in the thick of the action faster than you can say takedown. This allows players the opportunity to race and battle harder than they’ve ever done before, because revenge is always just seconds away.

As the Race, Wreck, Repeat trailer highlights, each track has multiple routes. A player can use the variety of avenues to their advantage, or, more often than not, disadvantage. Wince-inducing pinch points, stomach- churning near-misses and unforgiving environmental obstacles all play a pivotal role in testing a player’s reactions and keeping them on the edge of their seat.

Each track is also multi-layered, meaning the player can chose to stick to the ground, or go up high in order to wipe-out an opponent from above with a crushing takedown.

Available to pre-order now, players can also get their hands on the ONRUSH DELUXE EDITION which includes an eight additional vehicle designs with iconic gold and black liveries, extra Crashtag artwork and Track Tombstones all exclusive to the DELUXE EDITION. Players who pre-order the game on PlayStation 4 will also get early access to the ONRUSH beta before it opens up to everyone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in May.

Overwatch Unveils Retribution Event

Blizzard announced the new Retribution Event during the Overwatch League, which enables fans to play a co-op story mode with Gabriel Reyes (Reaper), McCree, Moira, and Genji as they take on a secret mission in Venice.

The mode can indeed be enjoyed via “all heroes”, which allows players to pick any character to take on the mission, ranging four different difficulties in total. Here’s a statement from Blizzard.

Travel eight years into the past and join Blackwatch as they seek to capture a high-ranking member of the Talon organization. Fight in the streets of Venice as Genji, Moira, McCree, or Reyes (later known as Reaper) to complete the mission and unlock pieces of the past with over 100 items from last year and 60 new ones—including highlight intros, emotes, sprays, and more.

Blizzard has released a new trailer to showcase what’s on offer come April 10th, which you can check out at the head of this page. Stay tuned for more.
