Ubisoft Expands with Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Odesa

Today, Ubisoft announced that it will increase its creative capacities in India and Ukraine with the upcoming openings of Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Odesa. The two studios will participate in the development of new AAA games for some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, and expect to add at least 160 new talent to Ubisoft’s creative workforce in their two first years of operation.

The new studios demonstrate Ubisoft’s commitment to develop engaging and immersive game worlds in addition to world-class entertainment franchises. They will plug into Ubisoft’s cross-studio collaboration approach, in which Ubisoft studios from across the globe work together on AAA game development and live operations, with each studio providing distinct contributions based on their areas of expertise. Ubisoft is already present in both India (Pune) and Ukraine (Kiev), and these new studios will help reinforce and consolidate Ubisoft’s game development ecosystem in both territories. Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Odesa also will help support the company’s global production needs, bolster local expertise and create additional opportunities for local talents.

“This year marks the tenth anniversary of Ubisoft’s presence in India and in Ukraine. Our commitment to both countries is now strengthened by these expansions to Mumbai and Odesa,” said Christine Burgess-Quémard, Executive Director of Ubisoft’s worldwide studios. “I am proud to see how our production presence is growing, and strongly believe that it is by investing and expanding our knowledge and expertise internally that we will be able to keep delivering the high quality entertainment experiences of the future.”

Ubisoft Mumbai will report directly to Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, Managing Director of the Pune studio. The Ubisoft Mumbai team will work closely with Ubisoft Pune, collaborating on the development of Ubisoft’s AAA console games. Several senior team members from Pune will also join the new studio in Mumbai to build the local core team and help new recruits to ramp up quickly. Mumbai being one of the biggest cities in the world, the studio will be able to tap into a new national and international talent pool. The studio is looking to recruit up to 100 talents within two years with a focus on hiring programmers and artists. Ubisoft Mumbai will also collaborate with the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai & Intuit Lab, both schools known to train the brightest talents from India. The new studio is scheduled to open this year in June.

“I’m very excited to see our presence growing in the country. Opening a studio in one of the world’s biggest and most dynamic cities will open the doors to a new pool of talents.” said Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, Managing Director for Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. “Our ambition is to contribute towards the development of the Indian video game ecosystem by partnering closely with top schools and institutions.”

The new Odesa studio will join Ubisoft’s existing Ukrainian studio in Kiev and consolidate our presence in the East-European territory. Ubisoft Odesa will be managed by Adrian Serbanescu, Studio Manager of Kiev studio. Benefiting from the Eastern European Hub’s experience in collaborating on AAA’s projects, Ubisoft Odesa is joining the seven studios working on the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise. As the third-largest city of Ukraine and capitalizing on a very attractive location near the Black sea, the studio will be able to draw in additional talents from Ukraine and other Eastern European countries. Ubisoft Odesa started its operations earlier this month and is looking to recruit up to 60 talents within the two first years.

“Ubisoft first came to Kiev 10 years ago and since then the team grew and took on challenging projects, but alongside Kiev, we have always been interested in Odesa and thus the perfect occasion for us to show this was by opening an office there,” said Sébastien Delen, Managing Director for Eastern European Hub studios (Romania, Ukraine and Serbia), Ubisoft. “We are really glad to see the industry evolving in Ukraine and to see so many people who are passionate about game development.”

Ubisoft is committed to creating an inclusive work environment that reflects the diversity of the player community, and is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, ethnicity, religion, gender sexual orientation, age or disability status. We are currently recruiting and job opportunities can be found on Ubisoft website for both Mumbai and Odesa.

Impact Winter Arrives April 5th

Bandai and Mojo Bones announce the release date of Impact Winter. Jacob and his robot companion Ako-Light, as well as the 4 other survivors, will cool down the weather on 5th April, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Impact Winder has already launched on STEAM and survivors will now be able to test their skills on consoles. Players on PlayStation 4 will receive a Dynamic Theme for free.

“A huge Thank You – Thank You to all of you that have supported Mojo Bones and Impact Winter thus far” said Mark Norman Co-Founder and Art Director at Mojo Bones Ltd on their blog . “Since the release of the PC version, we have genuinely appreciated your feedback and sought to make the game an increasingly better and tighter experience and so it is without further ado that after this long road of blood, snow and tears, we can finally announce that Impact Winter will be coming to you digitally on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this April 5th!”

Players will need to help Jacob and his team of 4 survivors, all holed-up in an abandoned church, try to survive until the rescue timer reaches zero. Team management and survival skills will be essential! Thanks to a robot companion named Ako-Light, it will be easier to drill for supplies, explore new areas, light darkened interiors and empty nights, carry your supplies and track the location. Help is coming, will you survive until then?

The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset Chapter Dated and Detailed

Today Bethesda Softworks announced The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, the next Chapter of ZeniMax Online Studio’s award-winning online RPG, The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). This year’s Chapter will send players to the incredible Isle of Summerset to explore the home of the High Elves for the first time since 1994’s The Elder Scrolls: Arena.

With a massive and vibrant new zone, an epic main story, a new skill line based on the Psijic Order, and the introduction of Jewelry Crafting, The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset offers an expansive installment for both new and veteran players. The description reads:

By the decree of Queen Ayrenn, Summerset Isle is now open to foreigners, but a Daedric threat looms over the breathtaking home of the High Elves. Players will travel to the Summerset Isle, gather allies, and unravel a shadowy conspiracy that threatens all of Tamriel. ESO: Summerset is packed with exciting new features and challenges.

In other ESO news, players can play the base game for free for a limited time beginning today. ESO’s Free Play Event begins today for PC/Mac and PlayStation 4, and starts tomorrow for Xbox One. The Free Play Event will allow access to base game content and will run until the 27th March.

Monster Hunter: World Update 2.00 is Now Live

The first major title update for Monster Hunter: World is now live, and with it comes the terrifying Deviljho, as seen in the video below.

This update brings in a host of improvements and additions, so be sure to queue it up for download to bypass waiting what may well be a bulky file size. You can check out the extensive patch notes on the official Monster Hunter: World website.

Gravel Gets Ice and Fire DLC

Milestone announce GRAVEL’s upcoming lineup of DLC content. This March 28, winter might not be coming, but gamers can experience the thrill of GRAVEL’s newest DLC Ice and Fire. Experience a brand new cross-country map set in Iceland.

The new location includes 10 brand new checkpoint tracks, a new career episode, the Ice and Fire race, and new events featuring extreme snow tracks in three different settings: Coast, Mountain and Valley. Illuminated by the aurora borealis, players can race inside dormant volcanoes and visit iconic fishing villages. Players can enjoy the modes Capture the Flag and King’s Run in a never-before-seen multiplayer arena.

While part of GRAVEL’s Season Pass, Ice and Fire will be available for purchase separately at $9.99. The DLC will release on March 28 for PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC/STEAM.

Tournaments Update for Rocket League Dated

Independent video game developer and publisher, Psyonix, has announced that the Tournaments Update for Rocket League will officially go live on April 3 on all platforms (pending first party certifications).

Besides the much-anticipated addition of the Tournaments feature, which allows players to create tournaments without leaving the game, the update will also introduce a number of quality of life improvements including Nintendo Switch performance and visual quality updates. For a closer look at Tournaments, Psyonix also revealed a brand new Tournaments Inside Look video today.

Sea of Thieves Already Passed One Million Unique Users

Rare has revealed that Sea of Thieves has already surpassed one million unique users, with records of up to 5000 players logging in per-minute. This would certainly explain the server issues that have plagued the game since launch, but Rare, as expected, are on the case.

Rare has released a new video, detailing their top priorities for issues to iron out in the days following launch. Studio Head Craig Duncan and Sea of Thieves Executive Producer Joe Neate are here to fill you in on what’s what. Take a peek.

Masters of Anima Gets a Release Date and New Trailer

Take your first steps on the path to becoming a Masters of Anima in the Overview Trailer, seen at the head of this post. The new project from Passtech Games, the makers of the indie-gem Space Run will be available for download April 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC!

As your victories rack up, acquire new powers and abilities for both yourself and your Guardians, ultimately becoming a true Master of Anima.

The Witcher Series’ Sales Pass 33 Million Units Sold

Ask anyone what the best RPG game is this gen, and many will point you straight to Wild Hunt. CDPR certainly know how to craft a deep and compelling experience, so it comes as no surprise to learn that even now, years since release, the series is still going strong.

Sales of The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt passed 33 million units according to the developer, albeit Wild Hunt sold mostly on PS4 and PC, which is hardly surprising.

Cyberpunk 2077 Details Emerge

During CD Projekt’s fiscal year 2017 financial presentation, President Adam Kiciński slipped out some interesting details regarding Cyberpunk 2077. Despite stating that he wanted to announce more, we were ultimately left with just a few teases.

Kiciński debunked recent rumors and confirmed that it will indeed be possible to create your character and select from various classes. He also went on to say that the game will not immediately offer a multiplayer component, but he’s not going to rule the aspect out completely. This means that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a single player story driven experience first and foremost, with multiplayer being a possibility further down the line.

Sure, this isn’t a massive dump of information, but it’s nice to get “something” nevertheless. Interestingly enough, Kiciński didn’t rule out the possibility of a Battle Royale mode, and went on to say that the studio is currently considering everything and anything. No doubt we’ll find out much more at E3 2018.

Below is Definitely Arriving This Year

Capybara Games announced Below way back in 2013, but the game has since suffered a number of setbacks and delays. However, it’s been confirmed that the game will indeed arrive later this year, at last. Creative director Kris Piotrowski stated:

I still can’t say the exact date, but we are aiming for this year, although we’ve said that over and over, so. We have all the systems in place and now we’re kind of going deeper and deeper through the world, and polishing and trying to just get it all packaged up.

Below is an adventure game viewed from a top down perspective. You are a tiny warrior exploring the depths of a remote island. The game is about exploration, though that goal is contingent upon the character’s survival in a world where there is brutal combat and permanent death.

Heavy Shotgun Comes to Fortnite

Ready for some carnage? The heavy shotgun is now available in Fortnite. Epic states that players will not need to update the game, nor will there be any downtime.

Fortnite just keeps getting bigger and better with every new update. Fans will also be glad to know that a Replay feature is soon going to be making its way to the game. In other Fortnite news, it’s been revealed that Fortnite Battle Royale’s February revenue totaled $126 million, surpassing PUBG’s $103 million, which relied on software sales alone. Standby for more.
