Rest assured, Microsoft have reaffirmed that Original Xbox Backward Compatibility and PUBG are still on track to arrive in 2017.
Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg took to Twitter and reiterated that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will still land on Xbox One in 2017 via the ever popular Game Preview program. Interestingly enough, the Xbox One version of the game was recently rated by the Australian rating board as MA15+, under the name of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: The Ultimate Life & Death Fight. Could this point to an imminent announcement? We’ll have to wait and see.
In regards to OG BC, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently stated at the Brazil Game Show that the feature is also still on track for a 2017 release, stating that:
“We’re close, we’re really close. I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games and where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don’t think we’ve announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we’re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.”

When pushed for a timeline and asked if the feature was going to arrive in 2017, Phil answered with a simple and straightforward “Oh yeah”. As always stay tuned and we’ll keep you in the loop.
